Henry S. Millers Lane Kommer of the Dallas-Fort Worth Investments-Land Division recently brokered the disposition of the 96,000 square-foot former Grand Ave. campus of St. Luke Community United Methodist Church. We had several developers interested in tearing down the church and building either apartments or townhomes, but the neighborhood would not support it. It really came down to finding the right user, said Kommer. At the end of last month the property was sold to Reconciliation Academy who is repositioning the former church into a brand new preparatory school. I am very pleased that we were able to find a buyer that is willing to retain the buildings architectural beauty while giving it a new purpose and fresh look, said Kommer.
This August the former St. Luke Methodist Church will open as CityScape East Grand Preparatory and will be strategically repositioned into a brand new prep school for the currently known-as Reconciliation Academy. The CityScape Schools plans to retain the historical exterior while giving the building a complete interior overhaul. Immediately, all four floors except for the auditorium will be remodeled including moving and building new walls to make room for more classrooms and offices. New flooring and paint throughout as well as the upgrade and addition of ADA compliant restrooms and required exits. The initial renovation will include a total of 43,000 square feet. 6211 E. The first year we are doubling our student population and offering classes from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade, said CEO and Superintendent of Reconciliation Academy Leonard Brannon.
