Active Church: a church leader’s guide to community transformation A one-day event for leaders to witness the difference a community church is making in inner-city London and learn practical lessons to change their own communities. A local church should be at the heart of its community, but how can church leaders, typically overworked and under-resourced, begin to turn their church into the transforming force they believe God has called it to be? How can they build a rapport with community stakeholders who might inherently distrust them? How can they balance all of this with the competing demands of a congregation who are not necessarily even sympathetic to this agenda? Active Church is a one-day conference that allows church leaders to come together, hear from experts in the field of community development, debate thorny issues and obstacles and witness the difference that a community church is making in inner-city London Hosted by Rev Steve Chalke, each leader will walk away with an action plan that sets out the first steps in taking their church from an effective congregation to a missional force of social transformation.
